Sell a job, not a platform
Early SaaS dies when the first version tries to be an operating system for an entire industry. Pick the job a specific buyer will pay for. Make that job obviously better than the spreadsheet they have now.
Think about tenancy before the fifth customer
You do not need Kubernetes on day one. You do need a clear idea of how Customer A’s data stays away from Customer B’s screens. Retrofitting isolation is one of the more expensive refactors in software.
Billing is product design
Trials, seats, usage and plan limits change how people use the app. If billing is bolted on after launch, you will invent awkward workarounds in the UI and in finance.
Build an admin you can support
Someone will email you on a Sunday. If the only way to help them is a production database console, you do not have a SaaS company yet — you have a hostage situation.
